SINGAPORE: The Philippines plans to begin importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the next four to five years and is in talks with US, Canadian and Australian suppliers, Energy under-secretary Jose Layug said.
“In four to five years, hopefully we will begin commercial activity for LNG. A decision on how we will import the gas, including looking at floating vessels, will be made by the end of this year,” Layug told reporters on the sidelines of an industry conference in Singapore yesterday.
