Petronas methanol plant up and running

PETALING JAYA: Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) unit Petronas Methanol (Labuan) Sdn Bhd fired up its mega methanol plant package boiler on Tuesday, paving the way for further commissioning activities ahead of the plant's eventual commercial production in September.

The package boiler, the biggest of its kind in Asia, was fabricated by Cerrey SA de CV of Mexico and delivered to the site in Labuan by MISC Bhd, the national oil corporation said in a statement.
