No specific target level for ringgit

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara has no specific target level for the ringgit or to manage it in any pre-determined trading band against any currency, but wants to ensure an orderly market for the local currency.

“From time to time there will be volatility as the result of two-way flows,'' governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz said, but “over the medium term, the trend must be consistent with the underlying economy” and movement in other regional currencies.
