Venture capital plays its role despite challenges


THERE is a view that the global IT or dotcom boom in 2000 might not have happened without venture capitalists, who were willing to provide fresh capital for business start-ups that were too risky for the standard capital markets and bank borrowings. 

Likewise, some companies may not have floated their shares on the Mesdaq market or on foreign bourses if venture capital (VC) funds were not involved in their business expansions.
