Appointments


  • Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd has appointed Datuk Richard Curtis and Syed Ahmad Alwee Alsree group managing director and deputy group managing director respectively. 

    Syed Ahmad Alwee Alsree

    Curtis graduated with a degree from the University of Bristol, Britain, and is a Sloan Fellow of the London Business School.  

    He was chief executive officer of The Melium Group from 1997 to 2004. 

    He currently sits on the boards of Metropolitan TV Sdn Bhd and Natseven TV Sdn Bhd. He is also a trustee of Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor. 

    Syed Ahmad joined Cahya Mata Sarawak in February 2004 as human resources group general manager.

    He graduated with a Bachelor of Law from the National University of Singapore and practised law in Singapore for more than 10 years. 

  • Hwang-DBS Investment Management Bhd on Wednesday announced several new appointments in line with the company's realignment into four newly-formed divisions, each to be led by its own senior management executive, Bernama reported. 

    David Ng, previously senior portfolio manager/head of equities, has been promoted to chief investment officer. 

    Esther Thye, previously head of international business sales department, has been promoted to chief sales officer in charge of the international business, institutional unit trust agents and agency sales departments; and Christopher Chan will be chief marketing officer overseeing marketing support namely, product development, brand and communications and customer service. 

    The three join Tan Tat Thong, who was promoted to chief operating officer in April 2005. They will report directly to chief executive officer/executive director Teng Chee Wai.
