GHope to buy South African firm in quest to expand


GOLDEN Hope Plantations Bhd (GHope), in its quest to become a global player in the oils and fats business, is acquiring Hudson and Knight (Proprietary) Limited (H&K) from Unilever Bestfoods Robertsons (UBR) of South Africa for 115 million rand or RM69mil.  

This is GHope's second overseas acquisition in two years. In January 2002, it had purchased a refinery in the Netherlands, Unimills BV, also from Unilever.
