SINGAPORE dpa): Singapore-based airline Singapore Airlines has launched its next-generation long-haul cabin products across various premium classes.
Singapore Airlines says it plans to offer a two-seater sofa that can transform into "the largest double bed in the sky" for first-class passengers, as well as curved sliding doors for enhanced privacy and spaciousness around a "luxurious private sanctuary".
Premium cabins remain a major battleground for airlines, particularly those targeting affluent passengers who book business or first class.
The new cabin products are designed to provide passengers with greater comfort, privacy and flexibility across different onboard activities, including working, dining, relaxing and resting. The airline says it also brings upgraded seating, improved personal space and new in-flight entertainment options.
The firm is investing more than S$2 billion ($1.6 billion) in developing its new cabin products as part of its enhanced end-to-end travel experience.
The new products are set to enter service progressively from the second half of 2027. The new Boeing 777-9 aircraft will feature all four upgraded cabin classes.
The 41 retrofitted A350-900 long-haul and A350-900ULR aircraft will be equipped with the new Business Class seats. First Class cabins will be introduced on the A350-900ULR fleet for the first time.
Singapore Airlines has operated some of the world's longest scheduled nonstop flights, including one between Singapore and New York over a distance of about 15,300 kilometres, taking just under 18 hours. -- dpa
