NTU Singapore and Google deepen AI collaboration

SINGAPORE (Xinhua): Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) and Google are deepening their partnership to accelerate artificial intelligence (AI) adoption across education, research and workforce development.

Under a new memorandum of understanding signed on Friday, the two parties will explore initiatives in four areas: campus-wide AI integration, regional language and sovereign AI model development under Singapore's national initiative, AI Singapore (AISG), scientific research and AI safety, NTU said in a statement.

The collaboration will expand AI training and access to Google's tools, supporting the university's target of embedding AI into 40 percent of undergraduate courses by 2030.

NTU and Google will also work with AISG to develop and open-source datasets capturing Southeast Asian language characteristics.

In addition, NTU will establish a secure research sandbox on Google Cloud, with architectural guidance from Google, to support advanced scientific research. -- Xinhua
