BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A dialogue to mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Brunei was held in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei this week.

Co-organized by Xinhua News Agency Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau, the Chinese Embassy in Brunei and Radio Television Brunei, the event features an opening ceremony and thematic panel discussions covering artificial intelligence and communications, cultural exchanges and people-to-people bonds.

Nearly 100 representatives from various walks of life from the two countries attended the dialogue.

Guests from government agencies, media outlets, universities and other sectors of China and Brunei gathered to review friendly exchanges over the past 35 years and discuss advancing the China-Brunei community with a shared future.

He noted that media organizations and think tanks serve as vital bridges for emotional and intellectual exchanges and mutual understanding, and have long contributed to cultural exchanges, people-to-people connectivity and cooperation across various fields between the two countries.

He called on experts, scholars and media practitioners from both sides to tell engaging stories of China-Brunei friendship in the new era, and make fresh contributions to fostering the China-Brunei community with a shared future and deeper friendship between the two peoples.

Mohamad Iskandar bin Pengiran Haji Petra, vice-chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Brunei, said the 35th anniversary marks an important milestone that embodies deepening mutual trust, mutual respect and solid friendship between China and Brunei.

Emerging technologies are opening up new opportunities, he said, adding that Universiti Teknologi Brunei stands ready to play its part in delivering greater outcomes for bilateral cooperation. -=- Xinhua
