BRUNEI: Air quality across all four districts of Brunei Darussalam was in the good range on Saturday morning, with Brunei-Muara recording a Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) reading of 48 at 9am.
The Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) recorded PSI readings of 34 in Belait, 23 in Temburong and 38 in Tutong.
PSI readings below 50 are classified as good, while readings of 51 to 100 indicate moderate air quality.
JASTRe said it would continue monitoring air quality and issue updates at 7am, 9am, 11am, 2pm and 4pm during the hazy period.
Since Sept 1, the PSI reporting system has incorporated PM2.5 concentrations, which measure fine particles smaller than 2.5 micrometres in diameter.
According to the World Health Organisation, these particles can penetrate deep into the lungs and enter the bloodstream, potentially affecting cardiovascular and respiratory health. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
