BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Xinhua): A total of 29 fines amounting to 18,000 Brunei dollars (US$14,000) were issued for offences involving health products in Brunei from January to September 2026, affecting one individual and 28 companies, the Ministry of Health said.

According to local media on Wednesday, the Ministry of Health, through the Department of Pharmaceutical Services, continues to conduct post-market surveillance to ensure that health products supplied and sold in the country comply with the relevant regulatory requirements.

The monitoring covers medicines, traditional medicines, health supplements and cosmetic products.

Offences committed by individuals and companies in violation of the Medicines Act included selling or supplying medicinal products without the relevant licence, as well as selling health products contaminated with undeclared pharmaceutical active ingredients or prohibited substances.

Other offences included selling or supplying medicinal products not registered with the Brunei Medicines Control Authority, selling cosmetic products that had not been notified to the Ministry of Health, and selling cosmetic products that failed to meet prescribed labelling requirements. -- Xinhua
