HONG KONG (SCMP): The murder trial of Hong Kong socialite Abby Choi Tin-fung has been delayed again while the court addresses legal issues raised by lawyers in the high-profile case.
Deputy High Court Judge Brian Keith told the nine-member jury on Friday that the hearing would resume on Monday after the legal arguments concluded.
Choi’s mother, Cheung Yin-fa, had been expected to face cross-examination by counsel for Choi’s ex-husband, Alex Kwong Kong-chi, on the fifth day of her testimony.
He is standing trial on a joint murder charge alongside his father, Kwong Kau, 68, and elder brother, Anthony Kwong Kong-kit, 35.
The elder Kwong, a former police sergeant, has also pleaded not guilty to preventing the lawful burial of Choi’s body. His two sons pleaded guilty to that offence before the trial.
Parts of the 28-year-old influencer’s dismembered remains were found at a village house in Tai Po on February 24, 2023.

Prosecutors allege that the trio killed Choi over the proposed sale of a HK$72 million (US$9.17 million) flat at the upmarket Kadooria development in Ho Man Tin.
They allege that Kwong Kau, the registered owner, resented Choi’s efforts to sell the property and enlisted his two sons to help kill her and dispose of her remains.
In earlier testimony, Cheung said the Kwong family had relied on her family’s wealth without contributing to the support of Choi’s two children with Alex Kwong.
She described Kwong Kau as a “cunning old fox” and alleged that his two sons were skilled at coaxing others into doing their bidding. -- SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST
