Security forces have killed four insurgents in an intelligence- based operation in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, security sources said.
The operation was carried out on Monday in the Dera Ismail Khan district after security forces closely monitored the movement of the insurgents through intelligence-based surveillance, the sources said.
The slain insurgents were identified as members of a banned armed organisation that has been involved in attacks on civilians and law enforcement agencies.
Security forces recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition from the insurgents, according to the sources.
The operation was conducted under Pakistan’s ongoing counterterrorism campaign, the sources said, adding that security forces remain committed to eliminating insurgency and ensuring lasting peace in the country. — Xinhua
