LANGKAWI, KEDAH: Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi Resort, a 251-room flagship property of Hilton Hotels & Resorts developed and owned by Tradewinds Corporation Berhad, was officially launched this evening in an official ceremony graced by Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, Sultan of Kedah Darul Aman.
The ceremony was held at the resort along the 650-metre Burau Bay beachfront on Langkawi's western coast.
The Official Launch formalises the resort's full commercial debut, following its soft opening earlier this year, and represents a significant milestone for both Tradewinds Corporation Berhad and Hilton in reinforcing Langkawi's position as one of Malaysia's premier international leisure and MICE destinations, in line with the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
Sultan Sallehuddin, the Sultan of Kedah Darul Aman, graced the ceremony, and was joined at the event by Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Ibni Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin, Tuanku Raja Muda Kedah, and Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Che Puan Muda Zaheeda Mohamad Ariff, Tuanku Raja Puan Muda Kedah; together with Duli Yang Amat Mulia Tunku Shazuddin Ariff Ibni Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin, Tunku Mahkota Kedah; Duli Yang Amat Mulia Che Puan Nur Julie Ariff, Tunku Puan Mahkota Kedah; as well as their Royal Grandchildren, Yang Teramat Mulia Tunku Zara Bahiyah Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah and Yang Teramat Mulia Tunku Sulaiman Badlishah Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah.
Also in attendance were Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, Menteri Besar of Kedah, and his spouse, Yang Amat Berbahagia Tok Puan Hajah Jusmalailani Jusoh; Tuan Syed Danial Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Syah Albukhary, representing Tradewinds; together with state government officials and industry dignitaries.
The Sultan's presence at the Official Launch follows His Royal Highness's remarks at His 84th birthday investiture ceremony at Istana Anak Bukit on 5 July 2026, where the Sultan said, "Langkawi's true strength lies in its natural treasures and unique heritage," calling for the island to be developed according to its own identity and character rather than in emulation of destinations such as Phuket or Bali.
"Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi Resort is the latest addition to Tradewinds' established hospitality portfolio in Langkawi, joining four of our existing resorts on the island. Set on nearly 22 acres along a 650-metre private beachfront at Teluk Burau, Mukim Padang Matsirat, Langkawi, Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi Resort is nestled between centuries-old tropical rainforest and the Andaman Sea, with sweeping views of the Straits of Malacca and Gunung Mat Cincang. The resort is approximately 15 to 20 minutes from Langkawi International Airport and within easy reach of the Langkawi Cable Car & SkyBridge and Oriental Village.
The resort features 251 guest rooms and suites, each with a private terrace or balcony overlooking rainforest, mountain or sea views, including 16 connecting rooms designed for multi-generational travel. Dining options span four concepts, Gingerfire, an all-day dining restaurant serving Asian and international cuisine; Haliya Lounge, a lobby café offering artisanal coffees and local botanicals; Mingzhu, a specialty concept honouring the spice-driven culinary traditions of Yunnan's ethnic tribes; and Trattoria Mare, an Italian seaside dining venue.
For wellness and recreation, the resort offers an Eforea Spa with an open-pavilion layout, outdoor sauna barrels, a dedicated Salt Room and an Elixir Lounge; three swimming pools, including a family pool, a dedicated kids' pool and an adults-only retreat, alongside five meditative rock pools; recreational courts for tennis, pickleball and basketball; a Nature Center offering guided rainforest walks; and a Kids' Club.
For meetings and celebrations, the resort provides more than 5,400 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, anchored by the pillarless Orchid Grand Ballroom (4,455 square feet, accommodating up to 210 guests), the Orchid and Jasmine function rooms, the Grand Lawn, and the beachfront itself.
Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi Resort is Tradewinds' latest hotel developed in partnership with Hilton, following Hilton Petaling Jaya, Hilton Kuching and Hilton Shah Alam Glenmarie. Its opening reinforces Hilton's growing momentum in Malaysia, ahead of the upcoming debuts of Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur.
