Top Irish group Kodaline said it was their 'Farewell Tour ', and one of their last stops was Kuala Lumpur. And on an emotional night, the Irish boys did not disappoint with an unforgettable show at the Idea Live Arena on Aug 26.
The group will wind up its act after two more stops in Asia - in Bangkok and Australia.
For the record, Kodaline is a top Irish rock band that has been rocking the scene for more than a decade. Originally known as 21 Demands, the band adopted their current name in 2012 to coincide with the changing of their music. The group comprises Steve Garrigan, Vincent May, Mark Prendergast, and Jason Boland.
Garrigan and May grew up in Swords, County Dublin, and have known each other since childhood. May and Garrigan attended Colaiste Choilm CBS, Swords, where they participated in battles of the bands. Boland joined the group in 2012. They have released four albums: In a Perfect World (2013), Coming Up for Air (2015), and Politics of Living (2018). Their fourth album, One Day at a Time, was released on 12 June 2020. In October 2025, the band announced they would be disbanding after the release of a fifth and final album.
The group has a big following around the world, and many fans were shocked by the announcement, and their 'Farewell Tour' has been sold out since the announcement.
IT was no different on Aug 26 as the Irish band played to a full house at IDEALIVE Arena, Kuala Lumpur, with fans filling the venue as early as 5pm.
The set included popular hits such as “All I Want,” “High Hopes,” “The One” and “Brother' as they had the fans grooving and cheering them on for all their songs. The crowd sang along loudly to the band’s biggest songs, particularly “All I Want”.
Fans cheered, clapped and raised their phones throughout the performance, creating a lively atmosphere as the band’s more emotional tracks prompted fans to sing along and sway with the music.
The enthusiastic response showed Kodaline’s enduring popularity among Malaysian fans, with many shedding tears as they announced their break-up, as the members had said that they needed time for themselves and their families.
For the record, as a closing chapter, the concert was a mix of crowd singalongs and energetic moments, with fans remaining engaged throughout the show, and many will be going home with much sadness and happiness ... a real class mixture.
