HANOI: Typhoon Narra and subsequent flooding killed three people and injured three others in northern Vietnam, with widespread damage reported as of 8am Thursday (Aug 27), the Vietnam News Agency reported, citing the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority.
Two deaths were reported in Lang Son province and one in Dien Bien province, while three people were injured in Hanoi, Son La province and Quang Ninh province, according to the report.
The disaster inundated or otherwise affected 32,930 hectares of crops, killed 12,060 livestock and poultry, and damaged more than 1,000 hectares of aquaculture farms in northern and central Vietnam.
More than 1,750 houses were submerged, while 2,531 households remained isolated by floodwaters.
Authorities also recorded landslides at 310 locations along transportation routes, while 10,640 customers remained without electricity, the report added. - Xinhua
