Two dead, one injured in southern Philippines shooting


MANILA: Two people were killed and another wounded on Thursday after unidentified gunmen opened fire on their vehicle on the island of Mindanao in the southern Philippines, according to local media reports on Saturday, Xinhua reported.

The shooting took place in Maguindanao del Sur province.

The victims were travelling to Cotabato City when motorcycle-riding suspects opened fire on them in Datu Saudi Ampatuan town, local media GMA News cited the Police Regional Office in Bangsamoro region.

The 56-year-old driver and his 40-year-old companion died at the scene, while a labourer travelling with them was taken to hospital for treatment.
