Four dead in Manila residential fire

MANILA: (Bernama-Xinhua) Four people, including a three-year-old child, were killed in a fire that swept through a residential area in Pasay City, Metro Manila, the Philippines, on Friday (Aug 21) afternoon, local authorities said, reported Xinhua.

The blaze broke out at around 1.35pm on Tengco Street and quickly spread to adjacent homes.

The fire was escalated to the second alarm, prompting the deployment of additional firefighting resources, before being declared under control at 3.45pm, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Initial investigations pointed to an explosion involving a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank as the likely cause, local media reported.

Four others were injured and about 30 families were displaced by the fire. - Bernama-Xinhua
