BERLIN (dpa): Australian rising golf star Jessica Bang died at the age of 18 after suffering a brain haemorrhage while preparing for a tournament in Thailand.
The Women's Professional Golfers' Association (WPGA) confirmed her death in a statement on Friday.
"The WPGA Tour of Australasia and the broader Australian golf community is deeply saddened by the passing of young Tour member Jessica Bang in Thailand," it said.
Bang, who won her first professional event in just her fifth start earlier this year, was preparing for a tournament in Thailand on August 1 when she collapsed.
She was rushed to a hospital in Bangkok and had emergency brain surgery. She spent nearly two weeks in intensive care, but died on Thursday. -- dpa
