HANOI: Vietnamese authorities have alerted 56,240 vessels and 249,184 people to the latest developments and projected path of Typhoon Maysak, helping them avoid dangerous waters and move to safer areas, the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority said on Friday (July 3), reported Xinhua.

Typhoon Maysak is forecast to move towards waters off northern Vietnam and affect the country's north-eastern region in the coming days, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

The northern province of Quang Ninh banned vessels from going to sea from Friday noon, while Ninh Binh province imposed a similar ban from 2.00 pm the same day.

The centre also warned that rivers across north-eastern Vietnam could experience flooding from Saturday through next Tuesday.
