BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A total of 66 Brownies members from government and private primary schools under the Ministry of Education (MoE), as well as Arabic schools under the Department of Islamic Studies, Ministry of Religious Affairs successfully completed the A Day with Brownies Programme 2026 and received their certificates in a closing ceremony at the Headquarters of the Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam (PPPBD), Kampong Anggerek Desa.
The A Day with Brownies Programme 2026 served as a non-formal learning platform based on the patrol system, providing participants with opportunities to develop their knowledge, skills and potential through a variety of engaging, interactive and challenging guiding activities.
Themed ‘Together Brownies Reaching for the Stars’, the programme aimed to nurture Brownies members who will grow and shine as the nation’s future stars through guiding activities that promote leadership, discipline and teamwork. The programme focused on strengthening guiding skills among participants while enhancing their critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills through various group activities.
In addition, the programme aimed to cultivate discipline, confidence and resilience, as well as foster stronger bonds of friendship and camaraderie among Brownies members.
The ceremony was organised by the MoE, through the Uniformed Units and Services Section, Department of Co-Curriculum Education, in collaboration with the PPPBD.
The guest of honour, Vice President of the PPPBD Viviyanti Md Ali officiated the presentation of prizes to the winners, as well as certificates and badges to the participants.
Head of the Uniformed Units and Services Section, Department of Co-Curriculum Education, MoE Rosediana Hidop presented certificates of appreciation.
Chief Commissioner of the PPPBD Norazrina Sarbini and Deputy Chief Commissioner of the PPPBD Noriah Dollah also attended the closing ceremony.
The programme was organised by a committee comprising officers and staff of the Department of Co-Curriculum Education, members of the GGABD Executive Committee, Brownie leaders (teacher supervisors), young leaders from higher education institutions and Ranger Guides from Sixth Form Centres. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
