TACLOBAN CITY: The Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP)-Leyte Council has formally recognised Scout Chris Lorenz Fabian for his extraordinary heroism and selfless courage during the tragic shooting incident at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City.
Through Board Resolution No. 2026-06-012, approved at a Special Executive Board Meeting on Wednesday (June 24) at the BSP Conference Hall in this city, the Local Council Executive Board commended Fabian for an act of bravery that helped protect his fellow students’ lives during a life-threatening situation.
According to the resolution, Fabian “displayed exceptional courage and presence of mind when he swiftly closed the door of their classroom as an armed assailant approached. His decisive action prevented the gunman from immediately entering the room and potentially causing further harm to his classmates.”
The BSP-Leyte Council noted that Fabian knowingly put himself in danger to safeguard others, exemplifying the values of courage, service, leadership, and concern for fellow citizens, which are central to the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
“His actions undoubtedly contributed to the protection and preservation of human life and serve as a shining example of valour, responsibility, and commitment to the welfare of others,” the resolution stated.
The council further emphasised that Fabian’s heroic deed reflects the highest ideals of Scouting and embodies the Scout slogan, “Do a Good Turn Daily,” elevated to an extraordinary act of heroism under perilous circumstances.
In recognition of his bravery, the Local Council Executive Board commended Fabian as an exemplary model of Scout Spirit, whose courage and sacrifice inspire Scouts and the community to uphold service, duty, and bravery.
