HANOI: All airports in Vietnam will deploy aviation security forces equipped with the capability to detect and counter unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in 2027, according to a project recently approved by the government, local daily Suc Khoe & Doi Song reported on Tuesday (June 16).
The project, approved by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc on Monday, aims to enhance airport capacity, ensuring security, intelligence and user-friendliness under the new circumstances.
Under the project, police, customs authorities, the aviation sector and other relevant agencies will gradually connect and share data from 2027 in accordance with the law to support security screening, risk management and the simplification of aviation procedures.
During the 2028-2030 period, more than 80 per cent of airports nationwide are expected to adopt advanced technologies such as automated screening systems, biometric identification, intelligent surveillance and other suitable technological solutions for security control, operational coordination and passenger services.
Vietnam also aims to have at least one airport operating under a secure, smart and passenger-friendly model ranked among the world's top 20 airports. - Xinhua
