KPJ Healthcare posts solid growth for FY2025; aims to expand into the health tourism industry and be among the leaders in South-East Asia

KPJ Healthcare Berhad on Tuesday (June 16) held its 33rd Annual General Meeting ("AGM"), highlighting progress under the KPJ Health System ("KPJHS"), underpinned by a strong FY2025 performance and focused on the Group's next phase of growth.

For FY2025, KPJ Healthcare recorded revenue of RM4.26 billion, an increase of 9% from RM3.90 billion in FY2024. Profit before tax rose 6% to RM563 million, while profit after tax increased 10% to RM402 million. The Group also continued delivering value to shareholders through improved returns, a stronger balance sheet and sustained growth in market capitalisation.

Tan Sri Dr Ismail Haji Bakar, Chairman of KPJ Healthcare, said, "FY2025 reflected the continued evolution of KPJ Healthcare beyond a network of hospitals towards a more integrated health system that brings together clinical practice, education, research and innovation. This approach strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality care, develop future healthcare talent and support innovation, while creating sustainable value for patients, communities and shareholders.

"As we look ahead, we remain focused on ensuring that KPJ continues to grow with purpose, resilience and long-term impact, creating broader access to quality healthcare and delivering meaningful improvements in health outcomes.

"The group also aim to strengthen its medical tourism programmes as we are confident of a bright future in this industry."

Meanwhile, Chin Keat Chyuan, the President and Managing Director of KPJ Healthcare, added that medical tourism is certainly a sector the group are looking into in a deeper manner.

"The medical tourism sector is an avenue; we believe there is a big future in it. It provided more than six per cent in our revenue last year, and we expected to grow past the 10 per cent mark in 2026," said Chin.

As for the company's performance, Chin said: "During FY2025, we made meaningful progress across clinical excellence, talent development and innovation, while strengthening the foundations needed to support the Group's future growth.

"Our focus now is also on scaling these capabilities across the network through system integration, Centres of Excellence and emerging healthcare capabilities such as artificial intelligence, genomics and value-based care, ensuring that we continue delivering better outcomes for patients while creating sustainable long-term value, in line with its Care for Life purpose."

Across the Group, FY2025 saw continued progress in specialised care, healthcare talent development and innovation, reflecting how the KPJ Health System is bringing clinical practice, education, research and innovation closer together.

Key developments during the year included the launch of the Heart and Lung Centre of Excellence at Johor Specialist Hospital, several clinical firsts across the network such as Malaysia's first private-sector Pressurised Intraperitoneal Aerosol Chemotherapy (PIPAC) procedure and Deep Brain Stimulation surgery, continued engagement with Mayo Clinic, the expansion of specialised training programmes through KPJ Healthcare University's School of Digital Health and AI Academy, as well as innovation initiatives such as the implementation of a Research Management System, collaboration with the University of Melbourne to support digital health innovation and the development of an AI-powered patient engagement chatbot in collaboration with IBM Malaysia.

Building on this momentum, the Group has continued advancing its strategic priorities in FY2026, including the launch of the Neuroscience and Stroke Centre of Excellence at Damansara Specialist Hospital 2, the successful completion of a kidney transplant procedure at Tawakkal Specialist Hospital and the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Royal College of Surgeons of England to further strengthen clinical excellence and healthcare talent development across the KPJ Health System.

Looking ahead, the Group will continue advancing the KPJ Health System through deeper integration across its network and the expansion of convergence initiatives, while accelerating the development of Centres of Excellence and scaling the adoption of artificial intelligence, genomics and value-based care to support more personalised and outcome-focused healthcare delivery.
