HANOI: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam's southern economic hub, is set to grow into a global, smart and modern metropolis with all-round development on par with major developed cities worldwide by 2075, local newspaper VnExpress reported on Tuesday (May 26).

The vision is stipulated in a resolution on the city's construction and development, recently issued by the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The year 2075 will mark the 100th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and national reunification. Under the resolution, the city also aims to achieve green and sustainable growth and enhance its climate resilience by 2075.

From 2046 to 2075, the southern metropolis is expected to sustain an annual gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth rate of no less than six per cent.

The city targets a per capita GRDP of at least US$100,000 by 2075, the report said. - Xinhua
