Twenty-six rescued after Angeles City building collapses in the Philippines

MANILA: Twenty six persons have so far been rescued after a building under construction collapsed in Angeles City, Pampanga before dawn Sunday (May 24).

According to the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO), a proposed nine-story concrete building under construction collapsed at around 3 a.m. in Teodoro Street, Balibago, Angeles City.

“Twenty-four individuals have been successfully rescued from the collapsed structure. Two persons were also rescued from an apartelle that was hit by the collapse of a building under construction,” the Angeles City Information Office said in a statement, citing the ACDRRMO’s report.

Facilitating the continuous search and rescue operations are the Bureau of Fire Protection, and the DRRMO, while the Philippine National Police is securing the area.
