SINGAPORE: Readers will be able to access over 1,100 more Singaporean literary works under the SG Culture Pass after the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) added more locally authored book titles to its eligible list on Tuesday (May 19).
The additions mean Singaporeans can now purchase over 2,600 SingLit titles across 15 participating bookstores and their associated branches islandwide.
The MCCY also added six more bookstores where the pass can be used, including Book Point at Bras Basah Complex, comics publisher TCZ Studio at Aljunied Road, and Littered with Books at Duxton Road.
Eligible book titles can be identified by official SG Culture Pass stickers on these books at participating bookstores.
Eligible SingLit titles may differ between bookstores, said the MCCY.
To be eligible for purchase under the Culture Pass scheme, the titles need to be authored by Singapore citizens or permanent residents at the point of publishing and in English, Chinese, Malay or Tamil languages, said the MCCY.
Eligible books are restricted to genres of poetry, drama, short essays, and fiction including comics and graphic novels.
Launched on Sept 1, 2025 to boost the local arts and heritage sector, the SG Culture Pass is a cultural credits scheme that allows Singaporeans to purchase Singapore‑created literary books. Each eligible Singaporean has access to $100 worth of credits.
Apart from books, it is also applicable to plays, concerts, workshops, exhibitions and films.
MCCY said it continues to work with industry partners to expand access to SingLit titles under the SG Culture Pass.
SingLit authors may participate in the SG Culture Pass scheme through their publishers or distributors, who can apply to participate in the scheme at partners.sgculturepass.gov.sg
A total of US$300 million has been set aside for the SG Culture Pass scheme for three million Singaporeans aged 18 and above. The credits expire end-2028.
Around $539,000 worth of credits have been spent in bookstores, The Straits Times previously reported on April 1.
