Malaysian rock band Disagree breaks its silence after more than a decade with new single 'Let’s Do It All Again'

After more than a decade away from the spotlight, Malaysian alternative rock band Disagree returns with a lineup comprising Zahid, Hamka and Taa.

The band returns with the same raw energy and emotional intensity that defined the band’s earlier work, but now, infused with deeper storytelling and evolved musicality.

Their comeback single,“Let’s Do It All Again”, is out on all major streaming platforms, leading into their upcoming full-length album, “Black & White in Colour”.

Their return is driven by a simple yet heartfelt intention: to complete what was left unfinished.

More than a decade ago, life led the members down different paths, pulling them away from the music scene and leaving behind a lingering sense of longing. Celebrating a return, the band plans to reconnect with their fans with a continuum of stories shared through their music, an exclusive fans engagement series as well as special appearances nationwide, bringing the band closer to fans than ever before.

Disagree’s comeback is not built on nostalgia alone, but on closure that never came, for them and for the fans.

“We didn’t really get to say goodbye,” the band reflects. “Life moved forward, and so did we. But somewhere along the way, we left something unfinished."

After years of stepping away from music due to life transitions, family commitments, and career priorities, the band quietly went on hiatus, leaving behind a legacy in Malaysia’s alternative rock scene and a fanbase that never fully let go, until now.

The comeback begins with “Let’s Do It All Again”, a heartfelt anthem of return, regret and gratitude.

The song tells the story of a band that once had everything; drive, connection and a loyal audience, but slowly walked away without saying their goodbyes. Years later, the silence felt by those who supported them hadn’t gone unnoticed. At its core the song is a sincere apology

letter to make things right and an invitation to reconnect. It is both nostalgic and forward-looking, a reminder that what appear to be endings can sometimes just be life’s pauses.

Recorded across Malaysia and Australia, the track was mixed and produced by multiple AIM award winner Greg Henderson and mastered by Leon Zervos, a renowned Grammy winner, at Studios 301 in Australia, giving it a sonically refined yet emotionally raw piece that underscores

the song’s introspective and reflective tone.

Originally active throughout the early 2000s and early 2010s, Disagree cultivated a strong following with their distinct Malaysian indie progressive rock sound, performed in English. Their radio hit singles include standout tracks such as “Crumbs”, “Suicide Note”, “Scarecrow Adams”, “Osaka”, and “Haley”.

They were a staple offering at the iconic annual Rock The World festivals during that era and an opening act to international bands such as Hoobastank and The All-American Rejects to name a few.

Among their heydays’ achievements, the band received Most Airplay at hitz.fm’s inaugural Malaysian English Top 10 Awards, went on to become a three-time Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM) winner including; Best New Artiste (AIM 12), Best English Album & Best Album Cover (AIM 17) and were recognised by Universal Music Malaysia as the fastest selling album in 2005.

If Disagree once represented the voice of youthful uncertainty and emotional grunge intensity, today they stand for something more reflective: Reconnection over recognition, Sincerity over perfection and music as a bridge back to the fans and not just to the stage.

Their return signals a new chapter for them in the Malaysian music scene, echoing the saying: you can take the rocker out of the music, but you can’t take the music out of the rocker. It’s a chapter that embraces time, distance, growth and forgiveness.

“We’re still the same band at heart. Just older, broken in a few places, but more determined and eager than ever”. Their sound has evolved too, still rooted in grunge and alternative rock, but now carrying more depths in storytelling, maturity and emotions, reflecting life’s journey between releases.

The upcoming album Black & White in Colour explores themes of heartache, trauma, turmoil, reconnection, faith and the ups and downs of life’s journey. Each track reflects a different stage of the band’s evolution; from who they were, to what they lost and what they are becoming.

While details of the full track list remain under wraps, the album is positioned as a statement of closure and rebirth. It’s not just for the band, but for the fans who grew up with them.

“Let’s Do It All Again” is an indie-pop/alternative rock anthem suited for playlists centered on indie rock revival, nostalgic alternative, feel-good reflection, comeback stories and emotional storytelling.

The song narrates the journey of a once-celebrated rock band that gradually slipped from the spotlight after years of success. As life evolved, the members drifted apart, leaving behind both their music and their fans without a sense of closure.

In time, that absence was deeply felt by those who had supported them and the silence did not go unnoticed. Confronted with the voices of their listeners, the band arrives at a difficult truth: they had walked away without saying goodbye.

At its heart, the song serves as an apology, an earnest attempt to make amends. It reaches out with humility, seeking forgiveness while extending an invitation to reconnect. More than a comeback, it reflects an understanding that the band’s identity has always been shaped by the people who believed in them. Without their fans, they are incomplete, making this return not just a revival, but a meaningful re-entry into the music scene.

“Let’s Do It All Again” is set to release on 15 May 2026 across all major streaming platforms. To get the latest update on Disagree and “Black & White in Colour,” visit blackandwhiteincolour.com or Disagree’s social media platforms.
