BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Commissioner of Police at the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) Datuk Seri Pahlawan Sulaiman Alidin together with an RBPF delegation visited the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) from May 6 to 8 to further strengthen bilateral relations, strategic collaboration and policing cooperation.
The RBPF delegation carried out several key engagements, including a courtesy call to the RMP Headquarters at Bukit Aman, a bilateral meeting with the top leadership of the RMP, visits to the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (Pulapol), the Tactical Simulation Centre (PST), and an official working visit to the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) in Cyberjaya.
Upon arrival at Bukit Aman, the Commissioner of Police and delegation were received by RMP’s Deputy Inspector-General of Police DIG Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, alongside RMP directors and senior officers.
An inspection ceremony involving the Federal Reserve Unit was also held in honour of the visiting delegation. The bilateral meeting, chaired by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, focused on enhancing cooperation while addressing cybercrime threats, online scams, commercial crime, cross-border crime, and transnational crime.
Both sides also discussed efforts to strengthen intelligence-sharing, coordination of joint operations, capacity-building initiatives, police training, and cooperation through Interpol and Aseanapol platforms.
The RBPF delegation also paid a courtesy call on the Inspector-General of Police IG Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, where discussions centred on strengthening institutional relations, enhancing professional development within the force, and charting the future direction of strategic cooperation between the two police organisations.
At Pulapol Kuala Lumpur, the delegation received briefings on the structure and operational management of police training programmes.
In addition to visiting the Tactical Simulation Centre, the delegation also witnessed a hostage rescue demonstration by the RMP Special Actions Unit (UTK), showcasing the force’s preparedness and tactical capabilities in responding to high-risk security threats.
Meanwhile, the working visit to the NSRC in Cyberjaya provided the delegation with exposure to Malaysia’s operational mechanisms in combating online scam crimes, including the implementation of “stop payment” measures, tracking of financial flows, and coordinated actions involving the RMP, Bank Negara Malaysia, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, financial institutions and related agencies.
The official work visit helped to reinforce mutual understanding, professional ties, and strategic cooperation networks between the RBPF and RMP further, particularly in the areas of security, law enforcement, police training, intelligence-sharing, and capacity development.
The visit also reflected the continued commitment of both police forces to expanding bilateral cooperation in the interest of regional security and stability. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
