PHNOM PENH: Cambodia has launched a green season campaign to attract international tourists during the rainy season, or low season.

Speaking at the launching event of the "Visit Cambodia in the Green Season Campaign 2026" in Phnom Penh on Saturday evening (May 2), Minister of Tourism Huot Hak said the initiative was designed to transform the rainy season from May to October into a peak time.

"It aims to turn the rainy season into a vibrant, high-value and sustainable tourism period," he said. "During this period, tourists will enjoy lush landscapes, cultural sites and community-based experiences."

Huot Hak called on hotels, restaurants and tour and travel operators to work together to arrange promotional travel packages and special events in order to attract more tourists.

Tourism is one of the major pillars supporting Cambodia's economy. According to the minister, Cambodia received a total of 5.57 million international tourist visits in 2025.- Xinhua
