Cambodia welcomes Myanmar's recent amnesty


PHNOM PENH: Cambodia welcomed Myanmar's recent granting of amnesty to more than 4,000 prisoners, saying that the move is a positive and significant development consistent with Asean's expectations, said a statement of Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation late Wednesday (April 22).

"This move is a positive and significant development consistent with Asean's expectations, and helps create a more conducive environment for dialogue and national reconciliation," it added.

The statement said that Cambodia looks forward to further positive steps that build confidence and advance the cause of peace. - Xinhua
