US Air Force jet sends distress signal over Turkiye, say Flightradar24


MIDDLE EAST/EUROPE (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- A US Air Force jet sent an emergency signal while in Turkish airspace on Friday, according to Flightradar24, an air traffic tracking website, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

The aircraft with the callsign RCH525 squawked code 7700, which indicates a "general emergency" situation, at approximately 7.51 am Turkish time (04:51 GMT).

According to flight tracking data, the jet took off from the United Arab Emirates and landed at Incirlik Air Base, a NATO installation operated primarily by Turkish and US air forces.

The reasons for the aircraft sending the emergency signal were not immediately known.
