KOFU, (Japan): A tourist spot at the foot of Mt. Fuji is covered with vibrant pink moss phlox flowers in full bloom.
At the Fuji Motosuko Resort in Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi Prefecture, approximately 500,000 moss phlox plants of six varieties bloom across a 15,000-square-meter site.
The best time to view the flowers is expected to continue through around mid-May.
“The sight of the flowers blooming across the foothills of the majestic Mt. Fuji is breathtaking,” said a 42-year-old man who had come from Tokyo. “It made all my fatigue disappear.”

Along the climbing trails of Mt. Fuji in Fujiyoshida of the prefecture, Fuji cherry trees are also in full bloom.
A cluster of approximately 20,000 Fuji cherry trees, which are designated as a national natural monument, occupies an area near restaurant Nakanochaya on the Yoshidaguchi trekking trail.
According to the Fujiyoshida Tourism Promotion Service, the blossoms bloomed on April 6, 11 days earlier than last year, and can still be enjoyed for a few more days. - The Yomiuri Shimbun
