Search underway for missing helicopter in West Kalimantan, Indonesia

JAKARTA: (Bernama) Indonesian authorities have deployed a search team to locate a helicopter suspected to have crashed in West Kalimantan province on Thursday (April 16).

The aircraft, identified as PK-CFX, was carrying eight people, including the pilot and co-pilot, when it lost contact at 8.39am local time while en route to Kubu Raya Regency.

Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Deputy for Operations and Preparedness, Edy Prakoso, said personnel from its Pontianak office and Sintang post have been mobilised as part of a joint operation involving the Indonesian National Armed Forces, police and volunteers.

"The team has been mobilised,” he said, according to Antara news agency.

The Airbus H-130T2 helicopter took off at 7.34am from Melawi Regency, in the same province.

As of 11am the same day, its last known position was detected near Nanga Taman District in Sekadau Regency. - Bernama
