Philippines' President Marcos back to normal routine amid health speculations

MANILA: (Bernama-PNA) President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday (April 8) dismissed rumours about his health, assuring the public that he has been back to his regular routine for the past few months, Philippine News Agency (PNA) reported.

"I have no health problem. I'm back to my regular exercise. I've been back to my regular routine for the last three months,” Marcos said in a video interview with Palace Press Officer Claire Castro.

The President expressed gratitude to those concerned but cautioned against taking social media claims seriously.

"Thank you very much to those who are worried about me. Don't take it too seriously, you know, social media is humorous,” he said.

In January, Marcos was diagnosed with diverticulitis, an inflammation of pouches in the colon, forcing him to miss some public engagements. However, it did not take long before he was able to resume his normal work schedule.

Marcos said he continues to monitor his health and maintain readiness for work.

"I'm doing my usual, watching my health, making sure that I'm always ready to do the work,” he added.

The President also shared that he has resumed a normal diet, with no strict restrictions.

"Wala nang bawal… more than one month na akong walang bawal (No more restrictions),” he said.

Malacañang (Presidential Office) earlier dismissed as fake news social media posts claiming the President was ill, even threatening to file charges against those peddling fake news about the Chief Executive’s health. - Bernama-PNA
