JAKARTA (Bernama): Indonesia and Japan have signalled their readiness to act as mediators to help de-escalate global conflicts, as both countries expressed concern over rising global tensions, including the situation in West Asia.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said that during his discussions with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Tuesday, both leaders agreed to encourage all parties to pursue de-escalation and expressed their readiness to facilitate efforts towards peace.
Prabowo, who is in Japan for an official visit since Sunday, said the trip comes amid a world facing growing challenges, uncertainty, and even danger.
"We will work hard to convince all parties to carry out de-escalation, and we are ready to act as mediators if needed and to facilitate efforts towards de-escalation and a path to peace,” he said during a joint press conference with Takaichi, in Tokyo on Tuesday.
The President also invited Takaichi to visit Indonesia.
