BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A total of BND 154,900 worth of food essentials was distributed to 150 families across Brunei on Wednesday (March 11) as part of the annual Program Ihsan by Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan), in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan.

In Belait District, the delegation, led by Attorney General Datin Seri Paduka Dayang Nor Hashimah Mohammed Taib, a member of the Yayasan’s Board of Directors, personally visited four households in Kampung STKRJ Lorong Tiga Selatan Seria and Kampung Sungai Liang to hand over the donations.

The programme aligns with the Yayasan’s strategic goal of assisting those in need, easing the burden on less fortunate families during the fasting month, and supporting preparations for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

Recipients were identified through collaboration with several government agencies, including the Ministry of Home Affairs via district offices, the Department of Zakat, Waqf and Baitulmal (JUZWAB) under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and the Department of Community Development (JAPEM) under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Since its launch in 2019, Program Ihsan has benefited a total of 1,195 families nationwide. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
