More than 19,000 receive Brunei Sultan’s personal gifts

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, has consented to the distribution of his personal gifts to selected groups among Muslim citizens and permanent residents in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebration.

A total of 19,242 recipients will receive the gifts this year, marking the 17th distribution of the initiative aimed at easing the burden of certain groups in the country ahead of the festive season.

Presentation ceremonies were held across the four districts, with His Majesty’s sons and daughters representing the monarch.

In the Brunei and Muara District, the presentation ceremony at the Reception Hall of Istana Nurul Iman was graced by His Royal Highness Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office. The Crown Prince presented the gifts to 1,000 recipients.

Concurrently at the Baitur Rahmah, Istana Nurul Iman, Her Royal Highness Princess Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah presented the gifts to 1,000 recipients.

Meanwhile, in the Belait District, the ceremony at Pusat Insani, Seria was graced by His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, who presented the gifts to 1,000 recipients.

In the Tutong District, the ceremony at the Main Hall of the Kompleks Dewan Kemasyarakatan Tutong was graced by His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, who presented the gifts to 1,000 recipients.

In the Temburong District, Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azeemah Ni’matul Bolkiah presented the gifts to 677 recipients at the Kompleks Dewan Kemasyarakatan in Mukim Bangar.

The ceremonies began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat.

The presentations mark the start of the distribution of His Majesty’s personal gifts, which will continue at designated centres from March 10 to 11.

Distribution centres include the Indoor Stadium at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas and the Chancellor’s Hall at Universiti Brunei Darussalam for Brunei and Muara District, Pusat Insani in Seria for Belait District, and the Kompleks Dewan Kemasyarakatan Tutong for Tutong District.

The distribution reflects His Majesty’s continued concern for the welfare of certain groups in the country as preparations begin for Hari Raya Aidil Fitri. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
