MANILA: The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has rescued four elementary students who were victims of online child sexual abuse and exploitation in Imus City, Cavite.

In a statement on Friday (March 6), the NBI said the victims are all male and identified as students in a public elementary school in Imus City.

“Intelligence report indicated that an American national had directly engaged with the victims, leading to the mass production and transmission of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material,” the NBI said.

NBI agents from the Human Trafficking Division rescued the four victims during an operation on Wednesday, following a request for assistance from the United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation through the Philippine Internet Crimes Against Children Center.

The four victims are currently under the custody of social welfare officers for necessary psychological and medical intervention.

The NBI said the rescue operation was conducted by the Human Trafficking Division in coordination with its Violence Against Women and Children Division, Cavite District Office North, as well as the City Social Welfare Development Office and various non-governmental organizations. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
