YANGON: The Ministry of Energy has announced that additional fuel supplies will be delivered, with two fuel tankers currently docked at Thilawa Port, six vessels en route, and eight more waiting to load fuel.
In a statement released on March 4, the ministry said that ongoing military conflicts in the Middle East have disrupted global fuel supply routes, affecting countries worldwide.
South-East Asian nations that rely heavily on crude oil and petroleum products from the region are expected to face particular challenges. Governments around the world are seeking cooperative solutions to mitigate the impact of the crisis.
The ministry clarified that Myanmar does not import fuel from Thailand. Instead, the country primarily imports petroleum products by sea from Singapore and Malaysia. Authorities have put measures in place to prevent disruptions across the fuel supply chain.
The ministry also stated that it has secured fuel reserves sufficient for approximately 40 days. Fuel imported through Thilawa is being distributed nationwide by tanker trucks to ensure stable supply across the country.
Therefore, the Ministry of Energy has issued a notice to the public not to be alarmed by the possibility of a fuel shortage and to only believe in the official news released by the relevant departments.
