Brunei umrah operators urged to follow regulations

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Acting Assistant Director of Haj Affairs at the Department of Haj Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haslin Ali emphasised the importance of full compliance with established regulations by all Umrah Package Operators using the Saudi Arabian Tourist Visa.

The acting assistant director highlighted this during a meeting between the department and local umrah operators yesterday.

Among the key requirements highlighted was the need to ensure that every umrah pilgrim is covered by a comprehensive takaful or insurance plan from the moment of departure from Brunei until their return to the country, a measure intended to safeguard the welfare and well-being of pilgrims in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

All Umrah Package Operators are required to practise transparency and provide clear, comprehensive explanations to pilgrims regarding the packages offered to avoid confusion or misunderstandings.

This includes details on the distance of hotels from the mosque area, meal provisions, flight schedules, tour programmes, and any additional charges, if applicable.

The meeting was held to ensure that regulations and conditions governing the operation of umrah package services are consistently complied by service providers.

It is hoped that the initiative will yield positive outcomes, particularly in ensuring that the welfare and interests of future umrah pilgrims remain protected, facilitating the smooth, orderly and complete performance of the umrah pilgrimage. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
