Restoration efforts at Brunei water treatment plants ongoing


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The power supply disruption affecting operations of the Bukit Barun and Layong Water Treatment Plants is ongoing, the Public Works Department at the Ministry of Development stated on Monday (March 2).

The water supply disruption or low water pressure experienced by affected residents in Brunei-Muara District and Tutong District started on Sunday morning when it was reported that no incoming power supply (as informed by the Department of Electrical Services) since 1.54am, affecting water production at both Bukit Barun and Layong Water Treatment Plants.

Efforts to restore and stabilise the power supply are ongoing by the Department of Electrical Services to ensure that plant operations return to normal as soon as possible.

As a result, this has resulted in reduced water production and low water pressure and water supply disruptions in several areas.

Members of the public are advised to practise prudent water usage during disruption period to expedite the stabilisation of water supply system.

Meanwhile, residents in the affected areas can obtain water supply from the blue water tanks as listed.

The blue tanks are located at Mukim Berakas ‘A’ at Jalan 77 nearby the community hall, RPN Lambak Kanan Mosque open areas, Jalan 1 nearby to Lambak Kanan community hall, Jalan 31, Jalan 11, Jalan 64, Jalan 49 and Jalan 3.

For Mukim Gadong ‘A’, the blue tank is located at Taman Rekreasi RPN Kampong Rimba.

Residents of Mukim Gadong ‘B’ can obtain water from blue tanks at Kampong Beribi Mosque, Jalan Bunga Jasmine, Jubli Perak Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque and Kampong Jangsak while for Mukim Kota Batu the blue tanks are at Taman Riadah Tasik Sarubing and Belimbing Subok Mosque.

Blue tanks are also located at Kampong Limau Manis Mosque, Jefri Bolkiah Kampong Batong Mosque and Kampong Panchor Murai Mosque.

Blue tanks located at Mukim Kilanas are at Rumah Elektrik, Simpang 40 Jalan Ban 3A Simpang 77 Jalan Ban 4, Bangunan No 144 Jalan Ban 4, Bebatik Kilanas Mosque and Kilanas Mosque.

For Mukim Lumapas, the blue tanks are at Masjid Kampong Lumapas, Simpang 596-46-12, STKRJ Lumapas, No 71 Jalan Kecil Pawas and Post Office of Kampong Lumapas. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
