Try Sutrisno, Indonesia's sixth Vice President, has been laid to rest with full military honours


JAKARTA, March 2 (Bernama) -- Indonesia’s sixth Vice President Try Sutrisno was laid to rest with full military honours at the Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery (TMP), here, Monday afternoon.

The ceremony was led by President Prabowo Subianto who acted as inspector of ceremony, overseeing the honours accorded to the former national leader who served during the administration of Indonesia’s second president, Soeharto.

ANTARA News Agency reported that the ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including Indonesia’s sixth president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, former vice president Boediono, and a number of ministers from the Merah Putih Cabinet. 

The former vice president passed away at the age of 90, at around 7am local time on Monday, while receiving treatment at the Gatot Soebroto Army Central Hospital (RSPAD), here. 

Meanwhile, Susilo had described Try Sutrisno as a patriot and statesman.

"He was a soldier and a patriot. He was a leader, a role model within his family, and above all, he was a statesman,” he told ANTARA when met at the ceremony. -- Bernama
