White Tiger Party wins eight seats in five Shan State townships in Myanmar polls


YANGON: After the completion of Phases (1) and (2) of the 2025 multi-party democratic general election, the Shan Nationalities Democratic Party (SNDP) also known as the White Tiger Party of Kya Phyu Party has won eight seats across five townships in Shan State, according to a statement released on the party’s social media page.

The statement said that in Phases (1) and (2) of the 2025 multi-party democratic general election, the White Tiger Party secured victories in five townships in Shan State.

During Phase (1) of the election, the White Tiger Party won in Linkhay and Mong Nai townships in Shan State. In Phase (2), it won in Laihka, Mong Kung, and Kunhing townships. As a result, the party has secured a total of eight seats across five townships.

“In Phase 1 of the election, the White Tiger Party won in Linkhay and Mong Nai townships in Shan State, and in Phase 2, it won in Laihka, Mong Kung, and Kunhing. Therefore, we have secured eight seats across a total of five townships,” the party said in its statement.

Although the White Tiger Party announced that it has won eight seats in five townships in Shan State, it has not yet released detailed information on which legislative bodies or constituencies those seats belong to.

According to an announcement by the Union Election Commission (UEC), Phase (3) of the election, scheduled to be held on Jan 25, will include nine townships in Shan State: Metman, Pinlaung, Nyaungshwe, Phekhon, Mong Nai, Kyethi, Mongshu, Hsipaw, and Kyaukme. - Eleven Media/ANN
