PHNOM PENH: A group of 60 artists from around Cambodia have gathered in Siem Reap town for the “Art for Peace” initiative. They are working on a massive mural which they hope will raise international awareness of the suffering of the Cambodian people and the consequences of the current Thai invasion.
Well-known forest protection activist Tan Kimsour created the concept. He told The Post that the painting was conceived on short notice and focuses on raising Cambodia’s voice on the international stage, encouraging the international community to seek peace.
He clarified that the painting does not depict violence or hatred, but the tragic impacts of war.
The painting is 30m long, 5m high and is expected to be completed on Dec 23. Kimsour believed the artwork, in the heart of Siem Reap town, will remain standing for “quite some time”. - The Phnom Penh Post/ANN
