Magnitude 6.7 earthquake hits Japan's northeast region, tsunami advisory issued

TOKYO: (Reuters) An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.7 hit Japan's northeastern region on Friday (Dec 12), prompting a tsunami advisory from the Japan Meteorological Agency.

The quake struck at 11.44am (0244 GMT), days after a bigger, 7.5-magnitude earthquake hit the same region.

The JMA issued an advisory for a possible tsunami of up to 1 metre. - Reuters
