BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Brunei is forecast to experience high rainfall during the first two months of the northeast monsoon, with wetter-than-usual conditions expected in December 2025 and January 2026, according to the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD).

During a national weather briefing on Thursday (Dec 4), the BDMD said the country typically records high rainfall and an increased number of rain days during this period compared to other months.

Weather conditions are expected to remain unstable, with occasional heavy showers or thunderstorms, particularly at night and in the early morning.

The department noted that during the second half of the northeast monsoon, spanning February to March 2026, atmospheric conditions are expected to stabilize, with a reduction in rainfall. - Xinhua
