Chinese, Myanmar nationals arrested, Chinese kidnapping victims rescued in Svay Rieng, Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: Officers from the Criminal Police Department have raided a house in Bavet town, Svay Rieng Province, rescuing six kidnapping victims and arresting eight suspects.

According to the police, in the early hour of Thursday (Dec 4), a group of Chinese and Myanmar nationals abducted a Chinese man, forcing him into a Range Rover and driving away from a location along National Road 1 in Bavet.

Specialised forces from the criminal department worked with the Svay Rieng Provincial Police Commissariat to conduct a manhunt.

They successfully identified the location where the suspects had taken the victim.

Just before 3pm on the same day, the officers raided the property, arresting two Chinese, Li Ling and Wang Jing, and six Myanmar nationals: Ai Ni, Sai Aung Xieng, A San, Ai Long, San Yi Kun and Ni Lie.

According to the police, the officers discovered six male Chinese kidnapping victims and confiscated a number of torture devices.

The suspects and the evidence have been transferred to the Svay Rieng provincial police for legal proceedings. - The Phnom Penh Post/ANN
