Laos prepares to honour the grand celebration of its 50th founding anniversary

VIENTIANE (Xinhua): Laos is preparing to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People's Democratic Republic on Dec. 2, with major parade rehearsals, enhanced security efforts, flag decorations in key areas, and citywide beautification now underway.

The second grand rehearsal, held on Friday in the Lao capital Vientiane, was attended by Lao Vice President Bounthong Chitmany, Lao Minister of National Defense Khamlieng Outhakaysone, and representatives from various ministries.

In preparation for the celebration, the Lao People's Army Air Force has intensified flight demonstration training, with a centerpiece of the rehearsals being an aerial display of the national and Party flags, creating a striking spectacle in the sky.

As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations, the National Assembly (NA) organized an exhibition from Wednesday to Friday to highlight its achievements over the past five decades.

Meanwhile, the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party held a ceremony on Thursday to award commemorative medals to former and senior leaders in recognition of their contributions to the nation. The event also marked the 50th anniversary of the Lao people's victory in the national democratic revolution and the founding of the Lao People's Democratic Republic on Dec. 2, 1975.

To enhance the festive atmosphere and showcase national pride, authorities have decorated the Lao national and Party flags at key locations, including Patuxay, major roads, and temples. - Xinhua
