KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): For those who grew up listening to love and heartbreak songs from across the border in the early 2000s, the names Radja and Wali surely evoke countless bittersweet memories.
The haunting lyrics and melodies of songs like ‘Jujur’ and ‘Baik-Baik Sayang’ still linger in the hearts of fans to this day, often bringing back memories of youthful crushes and heartbreaks.
After two decades, the two popular Indonesian bands are finally set to share the same stage - in Malaysia for the first time.
Radja guitarist Moldy Kusnadi said the concert, scheduled for Jan 10, will be deeply meaningful not only for him but also for his bandmates Ian Kasela and Seno Aji as it marks their first time performing with Wali on such a major stage.
"Even in Indonesia, this has never happened before… Wali performing together with Radja. This is the first time and it’s truly special.
"There will be a surprise for fans attending the concert, but we can’t reveal it yet or it won’t be a surprise anymore,” he said at a virtual press conference.
The concert, to be held at Idea Live Arena, Petaling Jaya, will feature a lineup of timeless love songs from the early 2000s.
Although Radja is now missing two of its original members, Moldy assured fans that their performance will remain as energetic as ever.
Wali drummer Tomi also expressed his gratitude for the warm support from Malaysian fans, hoping the event would help strengthen the bond between the two nations.
"We are very grateful that Wali’s songs are well-received in Malaysia. We truly appreciate how the people in Malaysia continue to support and appreciate our music,” he said, adding that they are committed to delivering their best performance.
Formed in 1999, Wali is known for hits such as ‘Yank’, ‘Cari Jodoh’ and ‘Baik-Baik Sayang’, and comprises Faank (lead vocalist), Apoy (guitarist and composer), Ovie (keyboardist) and Tomi (drummer).
Tickets for the concert, organised by Impian Al Fateh Sdn Bhd and GIS Entertainment & Events, are priced between RM177 and RM977. - Bernama
